I´m exhausted! I´m finally at the airport in Chicago waiting for my flight to Brazil. It´s a good thing I brought an extra bag - Eileen is taking about 10 pounds home with her. I weighed what was my heaviest bag and it was still 64 pounds, but I added a lot today to the other bag. When I arrived at the airport scale, it was 84 pounds. After a lot of rearranging, I guess I´m ready.
How do you pack for 6 months? I have a lot of stuff for other people, but probably too much of my own too. My next challenge is switching airports in Sao Paulo - fortunately, I know where to go - it´s just the logistics of hauling 200 pounds of stuff around!
As I went through security, the inspector asked me what happened to my computer. It took me just a second to realize that he was talking about the color - I traded my car to Andy in exchange for his bright green Alienware Area 51 laptop computer. I told the security guy that I spilled a bucket of paint on it.
The plane is overbooked and they are offering free tickets to get bumped, but Dante wants me to go to a party tomorrow night and Saturday. I´m excited to be travelling again, even if it is exhausting.
When I talked to Dante tonight, he told me that his mom has the whole house torn apart because she´s remodeling. I guess I´ll feel right at home - maybe I can help install some new tile!
While I was talking to Dante, I got lost looking for Bill´s house. I called Eileen, but she had already left, so Peter stayed on the phone with me until I found Winfield and the right street. In the process of trying to avoid traffic and talk on the phone at the same time, I turned north instead of south. My car is now safely waiting for Andy at Bill and Robin´s house, and I told Peter that his next career should be a 911 dispatcher!
